The AIR program, initiated in 2005, operates in partnership with diverse art institutions and residency centers across Western Europe, West Africa, and Southern Africa.
Since 2011, Thamgidi has managed its own residency space alongside collaborations with partner institutions. The program spans various artistic disciplines, welcoming practitioners in Visual Arts, Ceramics, Performing Arts, Textile Art, Literature, Curators, Art Critics, Art History, Fashion, New Media, Architecture, and Design, with an emphasis on fostering interdisciplinary collaborations, including those with business, law, and sociology.
